Siege of Vicksburg (May 18-July 4, 1863)

Photo: Cannons at Vicksburg National Military Park, Mississippi. Major General Ulysses S. Grant led the U.S. Army of the Tennessee, and Lt. General John Pemberton led Confederate Army. The fall of Vicksburg occurred on July 4, 1863. This was the day after the Confederate loss at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
