Help Us Help a Local Charity of the Special Olympics

As you know,
Americans are doing their part by donating to
charities to help the victims and rescue workers
of September 11, 2001. While this is a very patriotic
endeavor, it is creating a void in local charity
donations.
Help us help
a local charity by covering the upcoming Special
Olympics Southern California
Pier del Sol Fundraiser to be held
on Sunday, October 21, 2001, from 10 am - 2 pm
at Pacific Park on the historic Santa Monica Pier,
in Santa Monica, California.
Families,
corporate supporters, and celebrities, such as
professional skater Tony Hawke and "VIP" television
star Natalie Raitano, will join Special Olympics
athletes in this fun-filled day of thrilling rides,
celebrity-run game booths, swing dance music,
gourmet food, and more.
A silent auction
booth will be accepting bids on autographed memorabilia
signed by personalities such as Tiger
Woods, Andre
Agassi, Tony Gwynn of the San
Diego Padres, Doug Flutie
of the San Diego Chargers, Robin
Ventura of the New York Mets, Senator
Edward M. Kennedy, and the cast of
"Everybody Loves Raymond."
Tony Gwynn,
Doug Flutie, Robin Ventura, Senator Kennedy, and
the cast of "Everybody Loves Raymond" have signed
personalized hang tags for the IMA
Hero Bears for
the silent auction. The IMA Hero Bears have
been donated by StarRise Creations, a San Diego
based educational company that teaches children
about "Heroes in History."

Tickets are
on sale now through Ticketmaster at (213) 480-3232.
Ticket prices are $25 general admission, $70 VIP
ticket, and $300 VIP package. Funds raised by
the event will support the year-round programs
of Special Olympics Southern California, which
serves more than 10,000 children and adults in
eleven Southern California counties.
